Also, you may hear grinding. This can bear evidence of metal on metal, such as a stuck caliper or the sound of a component cutting into the rotors where pads have worn away. Finally, you might notice a chattering if the rotors (also known as discs) have become warped. Their surfaces should be smooth, and they should be even thickness throughout.
